Jesus in Jerusalem

Christ the King Lutheran Church in our Gospel reading today, Jesus is in Jerusalem in order that Scriptures might be fulfilled in you by His death and resurrection. But His enemies are urgent in their desire to destroy Him. They have no problem with joining with the secular kings and authorities in order that God’s Christ be killed. But Jesus knows their malicious desires. The Son of God is the Master of history. He says, “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” In Christ you are called to love God and neighbor. You do so in the context of this earthly life. Being a good citizen is part of God’s call to you. Voting, paying taxes, and participating in the civil society as well as hearing The Word and attending to His sacraments, are part and parcel of keeping the Word of Christ. And it’s not a burden, because you know that Jesus is Lord of all and will judge with true equity when He returns in glory. Come and hear His Word and receive His gifts Saturday 5:30 pm. And Sunday 9:30 am. SDG
