In the resurrection account known as “On the Road to Emmaus.” Cleopas and his companion, disciples of Jesus, are cast down with fear, sadness, and disappointment. Jesus was crucified, dead, and buried. When Jesus questions them regarding His resurrection they relate the opinions of men: confusion, doubt, sorrow, and abject fear. But Jesus is there for them! “‘O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Was it not necessary that the Christ must suffer these things and enter into His glory?’ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.” Friend! Christ is risen! He continues to come to His people in His Word and in His Baptism and in His Body and Blood. Stop relying on the opinions of men! Throw off your fear and doubt and sadness! Jesus is here for you! Come into His daylight’s splendor and know the Truth. Christ the Christ the King Lutheran Church Saturday 5:30 pm. And Sunday 9:30 am. SDG
