Following the great miracle of the loaves & fishes, Jesus sent His disciples across the lake to the other side. He went off by himself to pray, giving us an example for our own prayer life. But, while he was away, the Disciples ran up against foul weather. The winds & waves were against them. The disciples worked & worked but made little headway. The winds & waves threatened to overturn the boat. In the middle of the night, fearful for their lives, the Disciples saw Jesus walking on the water. They thought He was a ghost & cried out in fear. Jesus shouted out, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid." Friend, we are set in a stormy, hard work world. Events & relationships are often frayed. But Jesus is with us. "Take heart!" Your Jesus loves you & forgives you & He will lift you up in due time. |
